1.Silicon

Silicon is a multi-purpose sealant used for sealing or to prevent the passage of fluids and other substances from getting into joints and any openings in a material. Silicon appears in two (2) different colors which are black and white. However, black silicone is commonly used in our everyday activities making it easier to get than that of white silicone because it is barely used by people and less available.

Silicone is used in so many ways and for many materials. Here are some uses of silicone;

• They are used to seal openings or cracks on walls, tiles or floor tiles as well.
• They are also used on glass windows.
• They are used for sealing pipes.
• Lastly, they are also used on sinks, roofs, etc.

There are so many uses of silicone but that is just the few you could get. As I said earlier it's a multipurpose substance.

A brief information on how the silicon (sealant) is used or applied.

First ensure a clean and dry surface before applying the silicone. The area where the silicone would be applied on must be free from dirt, oil and even old sealants. After a well cleaned surface, cut off the tip of the nozzle and screw it on to cartridge. Fit into a caulking gun, then apply on the surface. All excess sealant should be wiped off with turpentine.

You might be wondering what a caulking gun is? A caulking gun is a tool in which silicone is placed in it so as to push out the substance (silicone). It makes the use of silicone easier and faster.

Caution.

It should be kept out of reach by children. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and mouth. wash immediately with water and seek medication and if gets in contact with the eyes.

2.Araldite

Araldite is a substance and also a type of adhesive used to join, mend or to seal any openings or broken part of a material piece. Araldite is used multi-purposely.

Here are some materials which araldite can be applied on;

• Metal
• Plastics
• Ceramics
• Glass
• Marbles

How to apply araldite product.

There are two different components of the araldite, which is the adhesive and it's Hardner.

• Drop equal parts of the adhesive and the harder in a container or on a plain glass.
• Mix the two components very carefully and quickly
• Apply on the surface, for like 8-10 minutes and leave to dry.

Caution

Avoid contact with the eyes, rinse with clean water immediately when it gets in contact with the eye. Keep out of reach of children.

3.Epoxy

Epoxy is an adhesive used for bonding material substances. It provides exceptional strength and durability. Epoxy comes in two (2) different colors; black and white. It is resistant to gasoline and most solvents.

Directions

• The surface to be repaired should be clean, dry and oil free
• Squeeze equal amounts of both resin and hardener.
• Mix thoroughly to obtain a uniform mixture.
• Apply on the surface to be repaired.

Epoxy is used on cars, motorcycles, bicycles, roofs etc.

Caution

Seek medical attention if ingested. Skin and eye irritant. It should be kept from children. Harmful to the body if swallowed.
